ASP seeks a Stage Management intern for our Fall production of Romeo & Juliet. Directed by Allyn Burrows & Bobbie Steinbach, Stage Managed by Cassie M. Seinuk, performing at the Strand Theatre in Dorchester. Rehearsals begin Tuesday, September 3 in our Somerville rehearsal room; Tech begins September 28; Previews begin October 2; Opening is October 5; the show closes November 3. Rehearsals run Tuesday-Friday evenings and Saturday and Sunday days. Interns must be able to attend a majority of rehearsals. Performances run Thursday-Saturday evenings, Saturday and Sunday afternoons with several weekday student matinees.
No prior experience necessary, but a sincere interest in learning the skills of stage managing or production management is a necessity. Applicants involved in other aspects of theater but interested in learning how every department works are welcome.
We are looking for someone with upbeat and calm energy, the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and think on one's feet, ability to take initiative and direction well, patience, discretion, and motivation. Interns will help the Equity Stage Manager and Assistant Stage Manager with line notes, props and costume tracking, being on book and running lines, preset and clean-up of space, and will help the ASM run backstage during the run of the production. This is an excellent hands-on opportunity. Class credit available. Please send resume, cover letter, and references to Manager of Artistic Operations Adele Traub at email@example.com. No phone calls, please.
