Out-of-School Programs Summer Youth Intensive Youth Council Apply Now

Where:  Forest of Arden Youth Studio, Charlestown Working Theater, Charlestown, MA

Who: Ages 13 – 19 welcome. No acting experience necessary!  Apply for as many projects as you want with one application.

In residence at the Forest of Arden Youth Studio at The Charlestown Working Theater, ASP offers year-round opportunities for young people of all backgrounds to perform, create, and form community with each other. Propose projects, develop artistic and leadership skills, and just have fun!

Bard Book Club

BOOK CLUB MEETINGS: Sundays 9/17, 10/1, 10/15, 10/29, 11/12, and 11/26, 5-8 pm

STAGED READING: December 2023, Details To Be Announced!

Join us for our inaugural Bard Book Club! The group will gather biweekly on Sundays to tackle and discuss a lesser-performed Shakespeare title over a few slices of pizza, and will collaboratively decide which selection to transform into a full staged reading in December 2023. Sharpen your Shakespeare savvy and build ensemble with fellow book club members in this fun and spirited pilot program; you are welcome for one meeting or for all!

REHEARSALS: Tuesdays and Thursdays 5:30-8 pm; Saturdays 1-4 pm
TECH: Saturday, April 27, 10 am-8 pm; Tuesday, April 30, 5-8:30 pm
DRESS REHEARSAL: Wednesday, May 1, 5-8:30 pm
PERFORMANCES: Thursday, Friday, and Saturday May 2-4, 7 pm (Actors arrive 4:30 pm) 
STRIKE: Sunday, May 5, 11 am-3 pm
 
For the first time ever, ASP’s youth company takes on a full production of Julius Caesar. The ensemble will journey back to the Roman Empire to explore this tale of political intrigue, and consider how it resonates with young people and audiences in a modern election year.

Tuition for the project is $750. Scholarship support is available on a sliding scale.

 
 
 
Summer Youth Intensive 2024

July 2024

This month-long intensive is entering its 14th year and culminates in a fully mounted production of a Shakespeare play. Teens of all experience welcome and encouraged to apply.
