I Am Lear

Free public performances of this work-in-progress exploring aging and inspired by Shakespeare’s King Lear

As of June 19, both performances are sold out! You are welcome to come to the venue an hour before the performance to wait to see if any seats become available at the last minute. First come, first served, and we cannot guarantee you will be seated.

Tickets are free and are general admission, but seating is limited. Reservations required.

As part of Bobbie Steinbach’s Resident Actor Fox Fellowship, she and her artistic team have been leading collaborative workshops since September 2016, including women from ASP’s Resident Acting Company, Boston Univerisy students, and a number of guest artists. As part of the devising process, Bobbie and colleagues have been working with community elders from Newbridge-on-the-Charles, Dedham and East End House, Cambridge and United South End Settlements in Boston.

Together, they have devised a piece inspired by Shakespeare’s King Lear, entitled I Am Lear, 
a multi-media, movement and voice-based exploration of aging, loss, diminishment of power, and the subsequent gaining of clarity, truth and self-knowledge.
